Student Profile: Yeting Shen

Yeting Shen came to Murray State University on a one-year international exchange to study Equine Science. He learned about Murray State when he was an undergraduate studying Equine Science at the Qingdao Agricultural University in China. In his first semester, he took classes in the Murray State ESL Program to improve his English and prepare for university classes in the USA. He spent his second semester studying Equine Science in the Agriculture Department. He took an internship at the MSU horse farm, where he learned about the management of horses and gained experience working in his field. He also worked with a team to write a 72-page equine business plan while at Murray State.

His experiences at Murray State heavily influenced his studies when he returned to China. Shen used the experimental data that he collected in the Murray State University Laboratories to write his graduation thesis, which was recognized as the "2014 QAU Outstanding Graduation Thesis." He also helped bring Dr. Shea Porr, one of his professors at Murray State, to China to teach at QAU.

Shen is an active member of his community. He participated in the preparatory meeting for Shandong Province Equine Industry Association as well as the Inaugural meeting of SEIA.

Shen's experiences at Murray State University introduced him to many people in his field, and gave him direct experiences through the internship and classes he attended during his exchange.
